Nintendo are all set to unveil and possibly launch the Nintendo NX later this year- the new console, widely rumored to be more powerful than the PS4, and one that fans find themselves hoping will regain Nintendo some industry wide third party support so they can stay in the console business.

However, in the midst of all of this talk about the console’s hardware, or third party support, one thing that tends to get lost is Nintendo’s own output- after all, as the best and most prolific game maker in the world, Nintendo’s own games, which have historically been enough to sell systems on their own, should be a matter of some interest, right?

And according to Nintendo insider Emily Rogers, who is known for her frequent and accurate leaks, the company has taken steps to ensure that the NX has its most prolific output of first party titles till date- the droughts that the Wii U suffered will be a thing of the past if her statements are true.

According to Rogers, Nintendo’s teams have undergone radical changes, with the entire process of game development having seen a shift. The focal point seems to have been to enable Nintendo to get more games out, more efficiently. Rogers also says that multiple unannounced Wii U games were moved over to the NX (which makes sense, given how barren the Wii U’s lineup is this year)- the result of all of this, then, is that Nintendo may have its best lineup of first party games ever on the NX. At the very least, it could have more Nintendo games than any other Nintendo system in history- which would really be saying something.

If this is true, then it could mean the console could feasibly survive and even thrive even in the absence of third party support- a situation that Nintendo is undoubtedly keen to ensure just in case a Wii U like exodus happens again.

The Nintendo NX has not been announced yet. An event is widely expected to be held at the end of this month when it will purportedly be announced.
