A protracted development cycle, multiple delays, and years of anticipation later, it looks like Persona 5 is now finally here- Atlus today announced that the long awaited fifth entry in the Persona series, and the follow up to the game widely regarded as one of the greatest ones ever made, Persona 4, will be launching this September- specifically, on September 15. Looks like Atlus want to take straight aim at Final Fantasy 15 with that release date.

This puts Persona 5‘s release just days before the 20th anniversary of the release of Revelations: Persona, the original Persona game that launched on the PlayStation way back when. Atlus will be appropriately celebrating the occasion with multiple special editions for the game, most of them themed after previous games in the series.

There is also a new trailer for the title, and it may just be the best one yet- you can check it out, as well as images of the game’s special edition, below.

Now we just wait for the western release date.
