Nintendo NX To Support Pixart’s Heart Rate Monitor

It looks like Nintendo NX will have some sort of health monitoring component to it, as DigitTimes is reporting that Pixart, a company involved in various optical technologies that have been used for various game related applications such as Kinect on Xbox, will be making a new heart rate monitor that the NX will apparently support.

The DigiTimes report says that Pixart’s chips will support VR related game solutions by the end of this year, with NX support expected by next year- which just happens to be when the Nintendo NX is known to be launching, too.

Of course, if a health monitoring component does exist on the NX, it is unlikely to be the central focus of the system, and indeed, Nintendo have made it a point to promote an active lifestyle for years now- the Wii, Wii Fit, Personal Trainer: Walking, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Nintendo 3DS’s StreetPass and StreetPass Mii Plaza, as well as the just launched Pokemon GO are all Nintendo products that encourage people to get up and get some exercise- maybe the NX will have some software like this, too.
