Even though Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare actually looks pretty damn good – the initial showing was intriguing, if not spectacular, but the game has continued to look better ever since, with each progressive showing – you wouldn’t know it judging only by what the popular response to both those games has been. Where Battlefield 1 has been met with almost rapturous praise, Infinite Warfare has been met with the kind of vitriol and hate that is usually reserved only for politicians.

In an interview with Metro UK, DICE’s Patrick Bach was asked the question about what exactly the reason for this kind of hatred for Infinite Warfare, as well as Battlefield and Call of Duty being pit against each other again, might be.

“I don’t know,” he laughed. “It’s the Internet. I agree, I think [the reception is] too polarized. It could be the… if you see a tangent of things, like how things have been, and you kind of know what the next thing will be, because you’ve followed the tangent, I think that that makes people p***** off. Because they want to be entertained, they want to be surprised. And if they have a chance to be upset they will be.”

I guess he is right in that the internet is a vast echo chamber- and any and all exaggerated opinions usually get amplified and emphasized, until at some point, people begin to jump on the bandwagon without even know why they are supposed to be upset in the first place.

Both, Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, are due to launch later this year on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
