New study says gamers are less likely to go to university

Posted By | On 14th, Apr. 2011

Do you like the usually negative stereotypes that are attributed to gamers? Well you’ll be glad to know that Oxford university have conducted a study perpetuating gamers as lazy and uneducated layabouts.

Tracking 17,000 people born in 1970, the study found that playing games regularly and doing no other activities reduced the chances of boys going to university from 24 percent to 19 percent, and girls attending university from 20 percent to 14 percent.

Mark Taylor, who conducted the research has said however that regular game playing didn’t decrease the chances of 16-year-olds ending up in a professional or managerial job at the age of 33.

Any university attending gamers, want to help refute this study?
