Unlike what was rumored, not all upcoming games on the PS4 will need to support the PS4 Pro on a mandatory basis. This means there is always a question of whether or not an upcoming PS4 game will have a PS4 Pro mode. And while all of Sony’s own games definitely will support enhancements on the Pro going forward, with third parties, it’s a bit more hit and miss.
Take Watch Dogs 2, for example. It’s one of the biggest third party game releases of this year, but apparently, it might not support the PS4 Pro at launch. ‘Right now we’re focusing on November 15 with PS4 and Xbox and PC. As far as the other opportunities, we still have to look into those. We have nothing to announce on that right now. And I am sure plenty of other programmers are looking into these opportunities, but for us, for now, it’s PC, and Xbox One, and PS4,’ Jonathan Morin of Ubisoft told HipHopGamer in an interview.
Watch Dogs 2 was shown off running on the PS4 Pro at the PlayStation Meeting event where the Pro was unveiled, so we do know that PS4 Pro support is on the cards for the game- as of right now, it’s just unknown when that support will ultimately be patched into the game.
