Blizzard isn’t done with Diablo 3 yet. Despite rumblings of a sequel or new expansion, the developer actually announced an anniversary patch due in January 2017 for PS4, PC and Xbox One.
This patch will add the Darkening of Tristam, which takes you to the Cathedral as you clear 16 levels with four bosses and Diablo at the end. The mode will features the original graphics, controls (if so you desire), outdated audio and much more. The yearly event will also include special rewards like portraits, pets, sigils and a Legendary Gem that can slotted in your helmet.
There’s a lot more though. Two new zones will coming to Adventure Mode, namely Shrouded Moors and Temple of the First Born, along with Challenge Rifts. Seasons will also be added to consoles though it’s not confirmed when the above content will be coming except in a new patch in 2017.
Finally, there’s an Armoury update that will be out next year which allows players to save loadouts and builds. You can create up to five at a time with different skills, gear, passive abilities, Kanai’s Cube skills and much more, thus allowing you to switch between loadouts on the fly. Gems will also not cost any money to unsocket in the coming days.
