There Are Now Over 100 Games In Development For Nintendo Switch From Over 70 Developers

That's certainly encouraging.

When Nintendo originally announced the Switch, it revealed a list of over 50 third party partners that were working on games for the upcoming system. At the Nintendo Switch event last month, Nintendo confirmed that there were over 80 games in development for the Switch. However, it seems that the general buzz around the system has emboldened more developers to take a chance on it.

Speaking at Nintendo’s financial report and investor briefing yesterday, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed that the number of games and developers for the system had increased in the last few weeks, with over 70 developers working on 100+ games for the Switch.

“After the presentation on January 13, we have continued to receive requests from more and more software publishers who want to develop games for the system,” Kimishima said. “At the presentation, we announced that there were over 80 titles in development from more than 50 software publishers, but that number has now climbed to over 100 titles from more than 70 publishers. Please look forward to more announcements about the software lineup in the future.”

That certainly sounds like movement in the right direction to me- while the lineup for the Switch is encouraging so far, there are certainly some uncertainties that abound, owing to just how poor first and third party games support was for Nintendo’s previous system, the Wii U. The Switch doesn’t seem like it will suffer from that problem- that’s encouraging.
