Ghost Recon:Wildlands is now out, and it continues the tradition of being a surprisingly decent PC port of the game from a company that once upon a time had burned all bridges with PC gamers. There aren’t a whole lot of issues left at this point – just a handful, given that the bulk of the problems have been addressed by patches and updates already released, or due to release – but the few there are, we are here to help you with.

This guide here will help you deal with a fair few of the technical errors and glitches you can run into while playing Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands on PC. But first, the specs:

Please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems that may arise or issues that may occur from trying the below. Always remember that official support is always the best support.

GENERAL FIXES

Generally speaking, some basic troubleshooting tips should always help you resolve whatever issue you are facing with the PC version of any game. The same holds true of Wildlands as well. If you are running into problems, maybe first attempt the following steps, and if they don’t work out, look into some of the more specific fixes we have below.

  • Make sure the drivers on your PC are updated
  • If you have two GPUs, make sure you are using the discrete GPU instead of the integrated one
  • Set Wildlands‘s priority to High in the Task Manager
  • Turn off any background programs, including firewalls, chat clients,  video recorders, and overlays
  • Try lowering visual settings on the game to see if that improves game performance

GAME ONLY LAUNCHES ON SECOND SCREEN

  • Go to C:\Users\user-name\Documents\My Games\Ghost Recon Wildlands. Open GRW.in.
  • Search for the ‘Output Monitor’ setting. The values can be 0, 1, or 2. Try changing the value to one of these. Save and quit, and restart the game. Repeat until you get the desired result.

100% CPU USAGE

  • If you run into this error, don’t set the game to High Priority in the task manager. In fact, you should switch it back to ‘Low’ as soon as possible

STUTTERING

  • Go to your video card’s control panel, and change your setting to ‘Maximum Performance Preferred’
  • Try lowering the resolution to enable higher framerate

SNAP TO COVER BUG

  • If your game freezes during snap to cover, your only choice is to force a quit, and then restart the game. As of right now, no other known solution exists

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Ghost Recon Wildlands.
