Nintendo Switch Survives A 1,000 Foot Fall In This Durability Test

Nintendo systems are always built to last- it is virtually impossible to actually damage them. The Switch, too, in spite of some early press about an array of purported hardware issues, appear to be in that category. As this newest video, which shows people dropping it from a 1,000 feet height (that is 300 meters) and the Switch surviving the fall, and emerging on the other side unscathed except for a totally busted left Joycon, will attest to.

The screen works just fine, the system functions and plays games, and even the right Joycon is functioning perfectly. The left Joycon takes the brunt of the fall, and apparently the brunt of the damage, as well.

So the good news is, if you’re on one of those fabled rooftop Switch parties, and you drop your Switch by mistake, it’ll survive the fall. The bad news is, if you get really angry at it and decide to chuck it in frustration, not only will it survive the fall, you’ll also probably hit someone you end up hitting with it by mistake.

Best to just… not throw your expensive $300 piece of electronic equipment at all.
