‘We Thought Metro Exodus Was Almost Impossible’, Say Developers 4A Games

4A Games opens up about why it was quiet on its upcoming game for so long.

Metro: Exodus, the next entry in the franchise, was announced at Microsoft’s E3 press conference last month, and is currently due to release next year. But why was development work on the game kept silent for so long? Why did 4A Games go dark about what they were working on?

“Why have we kept silent for so long?”creative developer, Andriy Prokhorov, stated during a recent interview with Polygon. “Because three years ago, we thought this game was almost impossible.”

What kept the team going was actually Metro series author Dmitry Glukhovsky, who kept pushing the tam to try things that they thought would be impossible. “It’s really hard work, because [Glukhovsky] is very passionate in person”, he explained. “He’s always trying to get us to do more. ‘Let’s do that!’ Well, you know, it’s technically not impossible, but it’s just not possible. ‘But why?!’”

Well, I for one am glad that Glukhovsky pushed 4A Games as he did- Exodus, much like Metro 2033 and Last Light, looks incredible, and it may not even have happened without him. Metro Exodus is due out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC next year.
