"We did a deal with Microsoft on Assassin’s Creed: Origins, which is taking really good advantage of the power of the machine."

Assassin’s Creed Origins was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 presser, and so far, it has been shown extensively on the Xbox One X. This has led many to suspect that the game may have some sort of marketing deal with Microsoft- much like 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity did.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, speaking to Gamespot, has confirmed that there is some manner of deal in place- though of course, he did not delve into any specifics.

“We did a deal with Microsoft on Assassin’s Creed: Origins, which is taking really good advantage of the power of the machine. We like very much what they are doing because instead of having a Kinect or something this time the industry went after more power for the machine, so more immersion, better AI, and overall better games.

“We like that because it means the industry will grow because the better the experiences, the more people want to have it. We think it has a good potential. If Microsoft is really behind it, it can do well,” Guillemot told GameSpot.

It sounds like Ubisoft at least is on board with the Xbox One X- then again, Ubisoft is always willing to jump head first into new hardware and new industry paradigms, even before anyone else. They were aong the most ardent supporters of the Wii, DS, 3DS, PS Vita, Wii U, PS Move, Kinect, VR, and even the Nintendo Switch- so it makes sense to see them all on board with the Xbox One X, too. Assassin’s Creed Origins launches on October 27 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
