Crossplay Between PS4 And Xbox One Is Working Internally, But Sony Won’t Allow it, Says Ark: Survival Evolved Dev

Sony continues to hold its unpopular stance.

Sony’s rigid stance on cross-play has been rather unpopular with almost everyone who knows anything about the entire situation. While competitors Nintendo and Microsoft are making sure that more and more people are able to play multiplatform games with other people regardless of what system they are playing the game on, Sony is continuing to keep its userbase restricted to PlayStation owners.

And it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon. Jeremy Stielglitz, who is serving as the lead designer, lead director and co-creative director on ARK: Survival Evolved was recently asked on Twitter if the game will include cross-platform play across user bases of the Xbox One and the PS4. Steilglitz confirmed that the development team at Studio Wildcard has cross-platform play running internally, but that Sony are not going to allow that feature to be made available in the final version of the game.

It seems ridiculous that Sony are refusing to budge on this stance, and hopefully enough pressure will result in them finally seeing reason- sooner rather than later. There’s no question that online play on games would be so much better for it if it did indeed happen.

ARK: Survival Evolved is launching on August 29 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued updates on the game.
