Nintendo Switch Supply Constraints Can’t Be Blamed On Any One Component Shortage, Executive Says

"I won't go in any more detail about it," says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.

The Nintendo Switch has been chronically out of stock ever since its launch earlier this year- and while Nintendo has committed to addressing the stock shortages going into Holiday season multiple times (and reports have discussed ramped up production for the company as well), Nintendo has also cautioned that in spite of its best efforts, it might be unable to meet demand for a while now.

Shortages of the Nintendo Switch have widely been blamed on manufacturing component shortages, which has led to a natural cap on how many units can be produced in the first place. However, speaking to The Financial Times, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime specified that there is no one choke point in the production of the Nintendo Switch- there are multiple.

“There is not one choke point, there are multiple choke points. I won’t go into any more detail but it’s not just one component,” Fils-Aime said.

Given that the Switch actually uses some sophisticated components- including the NAND memory chips it uses, as well as the HD Rumble motors- I can see this being true. Whatever it is, however, I sincerely hope the issues are addressed soon, because at this point, this is becoming embarrassing.

Thanks, Nintendolife.
