The Nintendo Switch may be the star of Nintendo’s portfolio, but the 3DS, now almost seven years old, is still going strong. Yesterday, during the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo decided to put the spotlight on their aging but kicking handheld, showcasing a number of great games that are coming to it in the coming months.
Apart from Metroid: Samus Returns (which launches tomorrow) and Pokemon UltraSun/UltraMoon, they also showed off Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga DX, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Radian Historia Redux, Etrian Odyssey V, Fire Emblem Warriors, and The Alliance Alive.
That wasn’t all, either- miraculously, a brand new version of Minecraft is also available on the New Nintendo 3DS (yeah, it’s a New 3DS exclusive), and it’s available right now– it launched yesterday during the Direct, and you can go download it for yourself. The game lacks multiplayer, and will presumably not get the cross platform play update, but it will be playable in 3D after an update.
So… yeah, it seems as though the Nintendo 3DS is still alive and well. For a platform in its seventh year on the market, that sure is impressive.
