Slightly Mad Studios’ Project CARS 2 will be supporting graphical enhancements on Sony’s PS4 Pro console. We have known this for a while, though the exact extent of what we can expect hadn’t been made clear to us. Until now.
Posting in a thread on the GTPlanet forums, Slightly Mad Studios head Ian Bell has detailed the exact enhancements that the game will get while running on the PS4 Pro. These include increased visual fidelity for the cars, the tracks, terrain, and objects, alongside sophisticated rendering techniques such as extra track detail meshes, and increased detail and resolution for shadows and reflections rendering.
All of which sounds great- but some of you don’t care about these intricate details, what you care about is the hard numbers. Well- prepare yourself. The game will render in 1440p on the PS4 Pro, and will ‘upscale beautifully’ to 4K (presumably via Checkerboard Rendering).
Project CARS 2 launches later this week for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will support Xbox One X enhancements (which are slated to be more substantive than PS4 Pro enhancements) as well.
