Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Will Have A Game World Three Times As Large As Shadow of Mordor

Shadow of Mordor, but more- this game should be perfect for fans of the original.

Monolith’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel to their unlikely action adventure hit from 2014 Shadow of Mordor, will apparently be leveraging the fact that it is on next generation consoles exclusively to great effect. Speaking to Hollywood Reporter, Monolith’s VP Creative, Michael de Plater, promised not just an expanded Nemesis system and new multiplayer features, he promised a hugely expanded game world as well.

As a matter of fact, the game world will be three times as large as the world in Shadow of Mordor. This means the sequel will have far more varied locales, in turn leading to more exciting gameplay moments and setpieces.

“That’s really been the primary focus for us over the past three years,” he said. “Just generally improving the number, the quality and the emotional power of the stories we create. Making you really love to hate these enemies. There’s four times the content around making these enemies varied with different personalities and bringing these villains to life.”

It sounds like for fans of the original, Shadow of War will be the perfect sequel- it will bring them more of what they loved and enjoyed about the original game, while also deftly and subtly adding new ideas into the mix. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War launches next week. It will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
