Call of Duty: WW2 Datamine Suggests Non-Cosmetic Loot Boxes May Be Coming

This will not go down well...

Guys- after the dumpster fire that was Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s loot box controversy, followed by EA scrambling to fix their game’s progression system, followed by various government agencies around the world declaring that they will look into the issue of loot boxes and regulating them- you would think you want to keep your head low.

Which, to be fair, Activision has- they introduced their own loot boxes to Call of Duty: WW2, which so far have been cosmetic only. But something more sinister may be upcoming- according to some datamines for the game’s files, it seems like Legendary and Epic rank weapons will soon be available in loot boxes, too. While you will be able to grind for them in game- given the blowback for Battlefront 2, I don’t expect this to go down well whenever it does happen.

Right now, it has not- so no reason to get the pitchforks out just yet. But we need to be wary and vigilant- hopefully, Activision is smart and doesn’t implement these in game. Call of Duty: WW2 is out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
