Detroit: Become Human Trailer Under Fire For Domestic Abuse Scenes

The mind that gave us "Press X to Jason" is getting heat.

David Cage, creative force behind several classic narrative driven titles for Sony over the last several years, wanted Detroit: Become Human to be emotional, but not necessarily to deliver a message. Turns out some people are feeling the emotion of anger after the Paris Games Week trailer dropped, including a UK member of parliament.

Journalist and Childline founder, Dame Esther Rantzen has called out to Sony to either cut the scene from Detroit or pull the game from sale altogether, calling the game perverse for making violence against children into entertainment, as she said in an interview with The Mail.

“It’s a real nightmare for thousands of children who have to live through these kinds of scenarios. The makers of this game should be thoroughly ashamed. I think it’s perverse. Who thinks beating a child is entertainment?,” said Dame Esther.

During a recent interview with Play UK’s issue #288, David Cage tells that his aim was simply to tell a story that moves players and makes them “feel something”. Cage believes that different people will see different things in Detroit and he thinks that’s great.

Detroit: Become Human is currently planned for release within the first half of 2018 exclusively for PlayStation 4. You can watch the trailer for yourself just below, let us know what you think in the comments.
