Nintendo Wants to Sell Multiple Switch Units Per Household

That's one way to boost sales.

Posted By | On 23rd, Jan. 2018

Nintendo is planning big sales for the Nintendo Switch- bigger than most consoles in history have managed. And how exactly are they planning on selling that many units for a purely gaming system? One of the ways that they envision doing this is by selling multiple units per household or family.

Speaking to Asahi, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed that Nintendo’s intention is to sell multiple units of the system per family- which is usually how handhelds sell (and how they manage to accrue such high sales). A console selling like that would be mostly unprecedented (except for with the PS2, which has sold more than any other console or handheld in history).

It remains to be seen how successfully Nintendo can execute this strategy- so far, they’ve managed to do a mostly good job of pulling off the Switch and making it a success. All eyes are on them.
