The one area of weakness that Xbox has always had is Japanese support- while the original Xbox started strong in this area, things began to dry out with the Xbox 360. With the Xbox One, Microsoft tried to make things better but Scalebound’s cancelation was a big blow to team Xbox’s effort in Japan.

During last year’s E3, Microsoft showcased Dragon Ball FighterZ, from the Japanese publisher Bandai Namco. It seems there is a chance we may see some Japanese games at this year’s E3 as well. When asked on Twitter about this, Phil Spencer, the big boss at Microsoft stated that publishers pay attention to these showings (referring to Dragon Ball FighterZand and that he feels good about the support at this year’s event.

He was also asked about Xbox’s plan for this year’s E3 to which he stated that they are doing some things differently this time around and they need to evolve, excite and learn, something they plan to do at this year’s E3. He also spoke a bit about his plans post E3, stating that it’s a “topic” for them, and the innovation in the industry will probably drive that discussion.

On another topic, Spencer stated that there is no specific policy regarding keyboard and mouse support for the Xbox One and Xbox One X, and by default Xbox One games do not support it, unless the game looks for a particular input device. He also stated that Steam games would probably never happen on Xbox One X, given how architecturally different it’s a compared to a gaming PCs.
