Splatoon 2 Gets New Update Addressing Problems With The Bubble Blower

Apart from other changes made to the metagame in response to community feedback.

Splatoon 2‘s Bubble Blower, a special weapon available in some loadouts, had actually ended up becoming far more powerful than it otherwise should or would have been. You see, a glitch with how it worked meant that bubbles ended up blocking all damage from bombs, or specials like the Rain Maker, which in turn made them way too overpowered, and a go-to strategy for many- the Bubble Blower was beginning to dominate the competitive metagame, basically.

A new update for the game (3.2.1) addresses the Bubble Blower, so that it actually acts how it is supposed to now. In addition to that, a problem with the game’s Salmon Run mode, which stopped new Golden Eggs from spawning in specific scenarios (a problem, since collecting Golden Eggs is what the whole mode is based on) has also been addressed with this new update.

It’s good to see Nintendo continues to be responsive to community feedback with ongoing support for Splatoon 2– undoubtedly, that has to be one of the reasons why the game has inculcated such a strong community of players who stick with it.

  • Changes to Competitive Play
    • Fixed an issue where bombs thrown from some types of Bomb Launchers would not cause damage when they directly hit a bubble from a Bubble Blower.
    • Fixed an issue where a Rainmaker shot that hits a bubble from a Bubble Blower would only do some of the intended damage.
    • Fixed an issue where Tenta Missiles fired while locked on to a Rainmaker barrier would not impact the position of the Rainmaker barrier.
  • Changes to Salmon Run
    • Fixed an issue where, when a lot of Snatchers are present, the max number of Golden Eggs on the stage goes down and new Golden Eggs do not appear.
    • Downloading this update data will make it so that you cannot communicate with players using previous update data when in The Shoal.
