This happens way too often these days, unfortunately. People are faced with the prospect of an untimely demise, and they realize that things they might have been looking forward to may end up being beyond their reach. In great shows of empathy and humanity, in these cases, when they involve video games, we see the companies responsible letting said people play the game in question early. We saw this with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and then with Fallout 76. And now, Rockstar has done something similar for a fan of theirs looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 2, and unfortunately suffering from a case of terminal Neurofibromatosis Type 2.
Dutch website GamersNet reported recently that the father of a fan of Rockstar named Jurian reached out to Rockstar Netherlands to try and arrange an early preview of the game for his son. While at first, Rockstar Netherlands was unable to oblige, given that they don’t have the authority to do so, they got in touch with their parent publisher, and then sent employees with a demo build of the game to his house, which he was allowed to play for a number of hours.
I am glad he at least got to play the game he was looking forward to, and I wish him, and all his family, nothing but all the luck in this extremely trying time for them.
