The Nintendo Switch has hit a very important milestone for any gaming platform—it now has over 1,000 games released for it since its launch last year in March. 1,000 games is a huge number, the kind that most platforms only approach over their entire lifetimes, so for the Switch to reach that in just 20 months highlights the kind of tremendous output of games it has enjoyed from Nintendo, third parties, and indie developers alike.
Nintendo announced the milestone today on their Twitter account, and celebrated it with a brand new trailer for the Switch, showing the diversity of the lineup (you can see the tweet and the video for yourself below). With more and more third parties jumping aboard the Switch, and Nintendo having multiple major games for the system lined up going into 2019, it’s a number that only promises to swell going forward.
This is in spite of Nintendo’s President admitting that every game can’t be hitting the Switch, and it’s unreasonable to expect so. Just goes to show you how well the system is doing in terms of accruing support in the quarters where it has managed to do that.
