Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Handed “Mature” Rating By ESRB

A decidedly unsurprising turn of events.

With Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice now less than three months away from release, we’re going to be hearing a lot of concrete information about the game that one would usually hear in the final weeks and months in the build up to its launch- such as its age rating. The ESRB has, unsurprisingly, handed the upcoming FromSoftware title an age rating of M for Mature, for ages 17 and up.

The age rating summary describes violence in combat and cutscenes, such as “large blood-splatter effects occur as enemies are killed”, attacks that result in “decapitation and/or dismemberment”, and cutscenes that depict acts of violence, such as “a man impaled through the chest with a sword”. The age rating and the descriptions are, of course, par for the course for a game such as this.

Notably enough, no mention of in-game purchases and microtransactions is made, which is, of course, great news for all prospective purchasers of the title, and should put to rest any doubts anyone had about the game being published by Activision.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launches on March 22 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Other than Sekiro, FromSoftware has a few other irons in the fire too- recently they spoke of more unannounced games in development. Read more on that through here.
