Celeste’s Physical Release Delayed, Extra DLC “In the Home Stretch”

They need a little extra time, but the developer promises a heartfelt Farewell.

Celeste was a major indie success, selling over half a million copies by 2018’s end, and seeing huge critical acclaim. The game’s creator, Matt Thorson, unveiled free DLC coming to the game some time this year not long ago, promising a “very hard” set of new levels for the platformer. Now, it seems like the DLC is getting close to release- but won’t make it this month.

In a tweet, which you can see below, the developer describes the DLC levels as being in “the home stretch of development”, but does confirm it’s still not quite ready for an April drop. To coincide with the DLC, which is titled “Chapter 9: Farewell”, they have also decided to delay the release of the physical edition of the game, which is set to be distributed by Limited Run Games. No further dates or time frames were given.

Celeste is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. The DLC update will be free across every platform.
