We’ve reported pretty extensively about all the rumblings that Switch system redesigns are on the horizon. Through the Wall Street Journal we know that Nintendo has moved production to SEA and are possibly working on the designs now, and just last week we had a Chinese retailer potentially leak one version, the more portable-focused Switch Mini. Now, more evidence has popped up that leads to the possibility that these revisions are real and possibly coming soon.

According to the Taipei Times, Macronix, a Taiwanese chip producer, reported on their orders for memory chips from Nintendo. They had a huge spike in growth due to a high order from the company, something the Chairman of the company called “very unusual” for the time of year.

It’s speculation for now, of course, and it’s always possible that Nintendo is just manufacturing more Switch consoles in general, therefore naturally need more chips, but considering all the production reporting, leaks, and rumors, it wouldn’t be too surprising if this is all related, and we end up seeing these revised versions of the Switch in the near future.
