Super Mario Maker 2 – 32 Courses Is Current Cap For Uploads

The level cap is surprisingly low.

Super Mario Maker 2 is out today, and the reviews are pretty stellar. The platformer/builder seems to be a hit in the same vein as the original, and with the success of the Switch is bound to be one of the biggest games of the year. Unfortunately, it seems an early, and unexpected, wall has hit with the amount of courses one can upload.

One of the key selling features of the game is building, sharing and playing custom levels. If you’re only interested in downloading games, everything is smooth. But for those who are all about customizing and uploading levels, you are capped out at 32. It was first noticed on the game’s official Reddit and multiple users have come forward to verify it’s true and, as of now, there seems to be no way to increase that cap. No official response has been given by Nintendo as of writing this.

It’s a strange decision, and one that seems in line with others that have plagued the game pre-release with some baffling decisions like not being able to play online with friends and being forced to use the touchscreen in handheld mode when building. 32 isn’t a small number, per say, but considering how the game is all about building, 32 is nothing for a lot of players who get deep into the customization issues, as evident by the fact that people are already hitting a wall with uploads.

Super Mario Maker 2 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
