Famitsu has released its weekly data for video game software and hardware sales in Japan. Sales were down in both fronts – which makes sense, since the Holiday boost that software and hardware sales enjoyed for a while is now winding down. Just like every week since its release though, Pokemon Sword and Shield was top of the charts once again, selling over 71,000 units.

Additionally, for the third consecutive week, there was no PS4 games in the top 10, with every entry being a Switch release. Many of these games were the titles we’ve become used to seeing in these charts over the weeks, including the likes of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Minecraft, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Ring Fit Adventure, Super Mario Party, and more.

On the hardware front, Famitsu has compiled data for two weeks together, since last week’s charts did not include any hardware sales figures. As such, this data is for the entirety of 2020 so far, up until January 12. This period saw the Switch selling a whopping 401,000 units. The PS4 trails by a considerable distance with over 65,000 units sold.
