Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone is quite busy of late. While his part-farming simulator, part-RPG continues to enjoy success (having recently crossed sales of 10 million units), Barone is also working on even more projects.
Recently, he took to Twitter to respond to a question by a fan, and said that he’s currently working on two new projects. One of these will be set in Stardew Valley’s world, though it will not be “a farming game”. Meanwhile, Barone isn’t yet sure what world the second game will be set in, but says that it will still “tie into Stardew Valley in some way”.
In subsequent tweets, Barone asked people to not “get too hyped at this stage”, saying that he’d “like to just make whatever game comes naturally to me without too much pressure or expectation.” Barone says he isn’t “setting out to make the next indie smash hit”, and instead just wants to make a game he will have fun with.
A new game in the Stardew Valley universe is something Barone has been working on for a while, having talked about it in December 2018 as well. It should be interesting to see what it – and the second game – will be, though Barone probably won’t be sharing any concrete details on either of them for a while yet.
Yes, I'm actually working on a couple of new projects. One takes place in the world of Stardew Valley, but is not a farming game. The other, I'm not 100% sure about the world yet, but it will tie into Stardew Valley in some way

I'm not setting out to make the next indie smash hit, I just want to make another game that I enjoy and am happy with. And to share some of my art & ideas with the world. If it becomes popular, I will be happy, but it's not my focus
