It’s hard to think of a game that’s been at the centre of as much port-begging a Persona 5 has been. Since pretty much the day that the Switch came out (maybe even before that), demands for a Persona 5 Switch port have been high, and this has gone hand-in-hand with tons of speculation, supposed “leaks”, rumours, and more. What does Atlus have to say about that (other than asking about it in surveys, that is)? Well, keep doing it.
Speaking to IGN at a preview event for the upcoming Persona 5 Royal, when asked about a Persona 5 port for the Switch, Atlus’ Communications Manager Ari Advincula said, “I am a strong believer in ‘never ever give up on hope’.”
“You want what you want,” she said. “And if you don’t let us know it we’re never going to be able to make it.” She went on to add that Atlus is aware about the strong desire for Persona 5 and asks fans to “keep telling us what you want”. “It’s important to always voice your opinion,” she added.
So there’s a chance that Persona fans make this game happen through sheer will. Keep hoping.
Meanwhile, Persona 5 Royal is coming exclusively to PS4 on March 31. Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is out in Japan for the PS4 and Switch on February 20, though a western release date hasn’t yet been announced.
