As the COVID-19 pandemic rages across the world, many are stepping forward to help out in any way they can (and more will hopefully continue to do so). That’s true for some in the games industry as well. Rockstar Games, for instance, recently took to Twitter to announce that they’ll be making donations from their end for relief efforts as well.

In a statement, the company said that from April 1st – which is today – up until the end of November, they will be donating 5 per cent of all money they make off in-game sales in GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2’s Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online respectively to COVID-19 relief efforts.

“As our teams navigate through these difficult times, we see our local communities across North America, UK, India, and beyond being deeply affected,” wrote the company, which switched to complete remote work halfway through March. “Small businesses have closed their doors, and communities who rely on government-provided support that they cannot access are struggling. The road ahead will be challenging, and we want to help where we can.”

All donations made by Rockstar in this period will be used “to help local communities and businesses struggling with the impacts of COVID-19, both directly and by supporting some of the amazing organizations who are on the ground helping those affected by the crisis.”

Recently, CD Projekt RED also donated nearly $1 million to combat COVID-19 in Poland. Read more on that through here.
