It’s been a wild and crazy few months. With many quarantine rules as well as stay at home orders, it’s lead to a massive spikes in entertainment consumption, with gaming being right up there. Unfortunately, it has also lead to a lot of shortages and limited supplies. Due to China being one of the earliest, and biggest, places hit in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of production lines were held up. One company negatively affected was Nintendo, whose popular Swtich hybrid system had strangled shipments. It seems they are ready to come back, and with a vengeance at that.

Speaking to Nikkei, a spokesman for the company revealed they are having production lines increase 10% more for the Switch this year. This is being done to help meet the greatly increased demand. It also puts it on track for a higher overall production of the system compared to 2019. There still seems to be some degree of uncertainty about how this will go, however, and it’s still unclear if they will be able to meet demand.

“We hope [suppliers] will be responsive to the production increase, but for procurement of some parts, the outlook remains uncertain, and we can’t forecast exactly how many Switches can be supplied,” the spokesman said.

Nintendo’s latest system has done incredibly well for itself, and it’s looking like that will continue this year. Good luck finding one in stores hopefully very soon.
