There’s a lot one can say to criticize the live service model, and a lot of games no doubt botch that horribly. But one game that does it right is Rainbow Six Siege. Originally launching in what many considered to be a subpar state, Ubisoft has built the thing into one of their biggest success stories. And the fight continues on with a new Operation.
Ubisoft officially revealed Operation Steel Wave today. It will come with two new Operators, one Attacker and one Defender. The Attacker will be Ace, a Norwegian man armed with a S.E.L.M.A. Aqua Breacher who focuses on, well, breaching. The Defender is Melusi, a South African that can deploy her Banshee Sonic Defense that can slow enemies and gather valuable intel. Along with that is a map change for House, as well as a secondary gadget in the Proximity Alarm, a nifty little item that can help give away your enemies location. You can see the full breakdown for the update in the video below.
Rainbow Six Siege is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and has been confirmed to also be coming to next generation consoles.
