Do you remember Elden Ring? The game was unveiled at last year’s E3 with a trailer that got many excited, and has since then largely been silent. It’s no showed every major event since then and everything we know about the game have come almost entirely from leaks and rumors. Well, unfortunately, there still isn’t much, but we did get a tiny bit of info.

At the 23rd Japan Media Arts Festival, in a panel focused on Sekiro, hosts hosts Tokita Takahashi and Sayawaka read some statements from Hidetaka Miyazaki about the game. It was an odd way to go about updating us, but hey, better than nothing I guess. In the statement, Miyazaki said that the game would be the deepest that From had done before in its history and mythos (thanks to Reddit user cocoakoumori for transcribing and translations).

“Basically, I decide the thematic elements of the game first to develop the motifs and world view of the title. Now we’re in development for a game called “Elden Ring” which is larger and deeper than anything we’ve done before (..) history, or mythos, we feel we’re challenging ourselves to make a game that deals with these two opposing [elements].”

Sayawaka also went on to confirm the game’s open world nature, as well as say that staff from the Game of Thrones TV series is working on the game. It’s not, however, clear what exactly he means.

Elden has staff from the foreign drama “Game of Thrones” participating in development and the game has got a sort of “open-worlded-ness” to it with wide open areas where you can ride your horse and things, it seems there are scenes like that in the game so, well,… There’s a feeling of a world here.”

It’s not much at the end of the day, but it’s at least nice to know the title is still in development. No word yet on when we can next expect to see Elden Ring, though the next big event is The Games Awards 2020 on December 10th, so it’s possible we’ll see something new there.
