The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel’s Development is Going Well, More Details Coming Later This Year

We're going to have to wait just a little bit longer, it seems.

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel

During the recent Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for the Switch. But, of course, given the fact that it’s been two years since the sequel to Breath of the Wild was announced, and the fact that we’re just days away from Zelda’s 35th anniversary, there’s no shortage of questions about where the next mainline game in the series is.

Though we didn’t get to see Breath of the Wild’s sequel in the recent Direct, we’ll be getting more information in the coming months. Before unveiling the upcoming Skyward Sword remaster, series producer Eiji Aonuma appeared on-screen to share a brief update. After reassuring that development on Breath of the Wild’s sequel is progressing smoothly (echoing similar earlier statements), Aonuma said that more details on the game will be shared later this year.

He didn’t get more specific than that, but seeing as this is the most information we’ve had on the game in a long time, it’s still something to go on. In the meantime, we are getting Skyward Sword HD to whet our appetites, so there’s that to look forward to, at least.
