Sega is clearly looking to make big waves in the months and years ahead. In addition to looking to shift to multiplatform and global releases for Atlus games and Yakuza titles to capitalize on their widespread success, it seems they’re also working on at least one large-scale project that they seem to be pretty confident it.
In the company’s most recent quarterly earnings report (via VGC), it revealed that it plans to release what it calls a “super game” within the next five years. Sega expects the game to not be very profitable upon launch, owing to the fact that it’s a new IP, but says that the game will be sold globally, which will give it great long-term potential.
What “super game” exactly means, what kind of game it will be, and who is developing it remains to be seen, but based on the fact that it’s going to have a pretty long development cycle and that Sega is hoping for it to rake in revenue for a prolonged period of time, it sounds like it’ll be a live service game.
Sega also says that over the course of the next few years, it’s also going to release a new FPS IP from a European studio, which is almost definitely the shooter being developed by British studio Creative Assembly.
