Nintendo has sold more than 20 million Switch units in Japan, according to Famitsu (via VGChronicle). The Switch reached the sales milestone on Junes 2nd, 4 years and 3 months (or 222 weeks, if you’d rather) since the console’s launch on March 3rd, 2017.

The exact number of units sold is 20,018,278, according to Famitsu. 16,168,420 million of those units were made up of the launch console, while the remaining 3,849,858 are Switch Lite consoles. Only four other consoles have sold 20 million units in Japan, according to a ResetEra poster: the Nintendo DS (32,990,000 units), the Nintendo Game Boy and Game Boy Color (32,470,000 units), the Nintendo 3DS (25,260,000 units), and the PlayStation 2 (21,454,325 units).

In addition to detailing the sales of the console, Famitsu also published a list revealing the five best-selling Switch games in Japan. Those games are Animal Crossing: New Horizons (6,778,146 copies), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (4,285,272 copies), Pokemon Sword and Shield (4,052,668 copies), Splatoon (3,868,221 copies), and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (3,844,200). The DS reportedly took slightly less than 3 years to hit 20 million sales, the Game Boy took approximately 9 years to do it, the 3DS did it in slightly under 5 years, and PS2 took nearly 7 years.

While the Switch isn’t moving as fast as the DS was, it easily outpaced the other systems listed, so that’s good for Nintendo, who continues to have a runaway hit on their hands with the system.
