Of all the bizarre rumours that might actually be true over the last few months, one of the standout ones popped up recently, claiming that WB Games is working on a Super Smash Bros-inspired crossover platform fighter. Recently, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb corroborated that leak on Twitter, and has now followed up on that with a report that includes some interesting details.

A lot of the details mentioned in the report line up with the recent leak, including playing characters from across Warner Bros. properties like Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, Shaggy from Scooby Doo, Batman, Tom and Jerry, and more. Grubb’s report also states that the game will be called Multiversus. A trademark for the same was also recently registered by Warner Bros.

The report goes on to claim that Multiversus might be a free-to-play game, and that WB Games will adopt a post-launch model with several additional DLC characters. Allegedly, some of these might be pulled in from the Space Jam films, and Grubb strongly hints that LeBron James will be one of the DLC characters.

WB Games has apparently had some early play tests for the game, but there’s no mention of how far along it is in development. Here’s hoping we hear something official about it in the not-too-distant future.
