Since the launch of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Monolith Productions has been awfully quiet, and more than a few people have wondered what exactly it is that the studio is going to come up with next. At yesterday’s The Game Awards, that question was finally answered with one of the most surprising reveals of the event, with WB Games announcing Wonder Woman game.

Given the fact that we only got to see a very brief trailer, there is obviously much that we don’t know about the game yet- but some new details on the game have also come to light since then. The description for the game’s trailer uploaded by the WB Games YouTube channel, for instance, has confirmed that Wonder Woman will be an open world game, and tell an original story in the DC universe as Diana a.k.a. Wonder Woman fights to ” unite her Amazon family and the humans from the modern world” as she progresses “from a heroic fighter into a proven leader.”

More importantly, it’s also be confirmed that the beloved Nemesis System that was first introduced in Shadow of Mordor will be making a return. The emergent system allowed players to craft their own narratives in the 2014 game was a widely praised revelation, and was taken built upon in Shadow of War, but has rarely been seen beyond that.

With Warner Bros. having patented the Nemesis System, it’s been clear of late that it won’t be nearly as prevalent as many had hoped it would be- though its return in Wonder Woman, which will allow players to “forge deep connections with both enemies and allies”, is sure to excite fans.

There’s no word yet on when Wonder Woman will launch, or for what platforms, but it seems it’ll be a while before we learn any of those details.
