Sifu Developer Has Plans for Additional Post-Launch Content

SloClap says that though Sifu isn't going to get multiplayer content anytime soon, it will still receive additional post-launch content.

Sifu generated plenty of buzz in the lead-up to its launch, and now that it’s out, it looks like SloClap’s kung fu beat ’em up is making good on its potential. With its aging mechanic and mechanically dense combat, the game does, of course, encourage plenty of replay value, but those who’ve already bitten off a healthy chunk of the game and are hungry for more might have other things to look forward to as well.

Speaking in a recent interview with GamingBolt, when asked if Sifu might add multiplayer content down the line, SloClap’s marketing manager Félix Garczynski said that though Sifu will remain a single player-only experience (unlike the studio’s first game, Absolver), the studio does have plans for additional post-launch content.

Sifu will remain single-player only,” Garczynski said. “We are an independent studio with limited means, and we wanted the team to focus on creating an immersive and distinctive single player experience. We do have additional content planned for post-launch though!”

Those who’ve enjoyed Sifu are going to have something more to look forward to then, though what shape that new content will take – whether it comes in the form of new modes, story content, features, or something else – remains to be seen.

That said, SloClap has confirmed that the DLC will be free. In a recently published PlayStation Blog update, Garczynski wrote: “We wanted you to know that part of the team behind Sifu is already at work on post-launch content. We have exciting plans for free content updates that we will soon be able to tell you more about! Stay tuned for more, and enjoy your experience with Sifu!”

In our review of SloClap’s brawler, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Despite a of couple hang-ups, Sifu should be commended for injecting a sense of danger and realism back into the beat ‘em up genre.” You can read our full review of Sifu through here.

Sifu is out now for PS5, PS4, and PC.
