The hype and anticipation for Elden Ring has been at a fever pitch for a long time at this point, and now that FromSoftware’s open world action RPG is finally out, it’s no surprise that people are flocking to it in droves. While publisher Bandai Namco is yet to announce the game’s launch sales (that will probably come a few days down the line), if its Steam performance is any indication, it’s got off to a stellar start.
At launch, Elden Ring hit a peak concurrent player count on Steam of a whopping 764,835 players. Just to give you an idea of how high that number is, especially from a FromSoftware release, to this day, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has hit a peak of 125,315 players, while Dark Souls 3 has managed 129,975 players.
At the time of writing, Elden Ring’s numbers have obviously dropped off, but the game’s still hovering near the top spots of platform’s most-played games, and currently stands at over over 530,000 concurrent players.
In our review of Elden Ring, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “FromSoftware returns with all of its traditional offerings in Elden Ring, but the real star of the show is its exceptional open world.” You can read our full review through here.
Elden Ring is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
