Ready or Not Has Been Delisted from Sale on Steam

It's speculated that this sudden removal may have something to do with the game's latest update, which includes a nightclub level set against the aftermath of a mass shooting.

Void Interactive’s latest tactical shooter, Ready or Not, is no stranger to controversies when it comes to the developer’s questionable choices for its maps. But this time, it seems that those choices have led to the game being outright removed from sale on Steam.

As reported by NME, Ready or Not was removed from Steam without prior warning on June 16, following which the developer said that it was a backend error and would soon get fixed. However, the game is still not live on Steam (the link redirects to the homepage), and speculation points to the game’s latest content update, which added a level set against the aftermath of a mass shooting at a nightclub by the name of Prysm, being what triggered the game’s removal.

To add to that, the developer had released the content update on June 12, which (intentionally or not) turned out to be the anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting massacre that involved 49 deaths in Florida. Furthermore, NME also stated in its report that the level may also feature some resemblance to the Bataclan shooting that happened in Paris in 2015.

Of course, it’s all just speculation at this point, and we can’t say for sure whether Valve removed Ready or Not just because of the update or not. As it stands right now, the developer is currently working with Valve to resolve the issues. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
