Dead Space is looking like it’s going to be a proper showcase of what current-gen consoles are capable of. The survival horror remake has looked excellent in all that we’ve seen of it so far, and in the lead-up to launch, developer Motive Studio has also been revealing new technical details on it, including its graphics modes on consoles and its surprisingly hefty PC requirements.

Now, in a PlayStation Blog post, the developer has also offered new detailed on what to expect from the game’s implementation of DualSense features. On PS5, Dead Space will make use of the controller’s haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and other features in a variety of ways.

Weapons, for instance, will make significant use of the controller’s unique features. The Plasma Cutter will bring haptic feedback with every shot, along with tension and pushback in the trigger, the latter of which will be used similarly for the flamethrower as well (which will also go hand-in-hand with a low vibration on the trigger as the ejected gas turns into flame). Meanwhile, while using the Pulse Rifle, players will feel the controller’s trigger “buck with each round fired from the rifle.”

In zero gravity areas, players will feel vibrations in the controller with each of Isaac’s steps while his mag boots are engaged on the floor, while the kinesis and stasis abilities will also offer “real-time feedback through the controller through rich haptic vibrations.”

Finally, the controller’s speakers will also be used for a number of in-game audio effects, including for picking up items, refilling stasis energy, using the locator, and more.

Dead Space launches on January 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
