World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Files Hint at New Specialization for Evoker Class

The next major update for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight might see the addition of a new specialization for Evokers.

World of Warcraft Dragonflight

Leading up to the release of the first major content update for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, players discovered evidence that would indicate that the Evoker class—added to the game with Dragonflight—might be getting a third specialization.

For context, the Evoker class is exclusive to the Dracthyr race, and like World of Warcraft: Legion‘s Demon Hunters, features only two specializations, allowing players to either act as the healer of the group, or a damage dealer.

While details about the supposed third specialization are sparse, players have spotted a text in an Evoker-specific quest, titled Our Destiny. According to Wowhead, the quest, discovered in the files of the game’s public test realms, has placeholder text referencing a “new specialization remembered”.

Later on in the quest, players have to help out Ebyssian to take on a boss by “boosting” him. The choice of word is interesting, since there is nothing in the Evoker’s toolkit that allows the class to “boost” its allies. The use of the word would imply that the third specialization might be a hybrid of support and damage dealing, rather than the tank specialization that the playerbase has been expecting.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight‘s patch 10.1, which will be bringing with it quite a bit of new content, including a new raid and a new zone, doesn’t yet have a release date.
