Asus ROG Ally Hits Shelves on June 13 with $699 Price Tag

Asus has announced the pricing and launch date for its handheld PC competitor to the Steam Deck—the ROG Ally. Slated to hit store shelves on June 13, the Asus ROG Ally will be priced at $699. The handheld gaming PC is also slated to get lower-specced version some time in Q3 2023, which will be priced at $599.

While the $699 version of the Asus ROG Ally is slated to be the flagship model, featuring an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, 16GB of RAM, and storage of up to 512GB through a PCIe 4.0 SSD, the $599 model will feature the non-Extreme version of the AMD Ryzen Z1 processor. These prices across specs match up with rumours from back in April.

Asus first unveiled the ROG Ally in April, and was originally believed to be an elaborate April Fools’ prank. What sets the Asus ROG Ally apart from its primary competitor—the Steam Deck—is the fact that it runs Windows 11. This means that players won’t see many compatibility issues across different games, launchers, and even anti-cheat systems.

To make navigation across Windows 11 easier with a controller setup, the Asus ROG Ally features a special edition of Asus’ own Armoury Crate software, which allows for easier navigation of game libraries and provides easy access to various performance toggles and in-game monitoring software.
