In June, Nexon announced that ahead of its launch later this year, The First Descendant would be getting a cross-platform open beta in August. However, with not long left until when the beta was originally supposed to kick off, the company has announced a change in those plans.

Previously set for August 22-28, the cross-platform open beta for the upcoming free-to-play co-op looter shooter has now been pushed back by roughly a month, and will now run from September 19-25. Nexon says that though the delay was “never an easy decision”, it was made to “make a better optimal test environment for all platforms”.

The open beta will feature new story content, 11 playable Descendants, quality-of-life improvements, performance enhancements, and more. Whether the delay in the beta’s launch will also mean the game’s full release getting pushed back remains to be seen.

As things stand, The First Descendant is set to launch this Fall for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For more details on the game, you can read our impressions of its PC beta from last year, or our interview with the game’s development team at Nexon.
