JAPAN CHARTS: Skyward Sword debuts on top, 3DS leads hardware charts

Media Create has released the weekly software and hardware sales charts for the region of Japan, and as expected, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has debuted on top, selling an impressive 194,978 units- with just three days on the market.

The other recent Nintendo release, Super Mario 3D Land, also performed well, selling 61,710 units and taking the No. 4 spot, taking its lifetime sales to over 550,000 units.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection also made a strong debut, with the PS3 version coming in at No.5, selling a little over 60,000 units.

On the hardware front, the 3DS was leading again, selling 120K units. Skyward Sword’s release gave the Wii a boost, coming up from 13K units to over 20K units, but the system remained in the fourth spot.
