No one could have expected that Palworld would go on to become one of 2024’s biggest success stories in the games industry. Dubbed “Pokemon with guns” in the lead-up to its release, the action-adventure survival title saw an instant explosion in popularity upon its early access release in January, becoming the biggest ever third-party launch on Game Pass and Steam’s second-highest concurrently played game to date, with its total player count standing at 25 million within a month of its launch.

Unsurprisingly, developer Pocketpair is looking to capitalize on the game’s popularity by bringing it to additional platforms. Currently available only on PC and Xbox, speaking with Bloomberg, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe confirmed that the developer is “in talks to bring Palworld to more platforms.”

There were suggestions shortly after the game came out that conversations had started around a PS5 release, though how long it’ll be before the game launches for Sony’s console remains to be seen. Of course, it should be interesting to see whether the game also ends up releasing for the Switch (or its rumoured successor), especially given the somewhat troublesome context surrounding Pocketpair and The Pokemon Company.

Palworld is currently available as an early access title on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, and is also available via Game Pass. Read our review of the game through here.
