As we approach the festive season of giving, it’s also a time where we start to consider what we will be receiving as well. Regardless of what people will say about the “death of PC gaming” and other such nonsense, the industry seems set to be giving the PC gamer a serious dose of love over the next twelve months. Read on for the top 10 PC games to look forward to in 2012.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria
Love it or hate it, World of Warcraft is one of the most popular and highly subscribed games ever, so there’s a likelihood that a high proportion of people reading this are going to be WoW players. If you’re a dedicated WoW player, then a new expansion pack is always something to look forward to, making the new content of Mists of Pandaria too good to pass up.
Guild Wars 2
If you’re one of those MMORPG players out there who found themselves dissatisfied with World of Warcraft’s monthly subscriptions, the likelihood is that you turned to Guild Wars and its free to play model in order to save some cash. Whether or not you went for Guild Wars’ economically sound charms, there’s no doubt that an MMO without subscription fees is a dream come true, especially when you consider the quality of Guild Wars. If the sequel can improve upon the first in the right areas, WoW could well have some competition next year.
Torchlight 2
Torchlight was one of those odd games that came out of nowhere back in 2009 and, even though it didn’t exactly innovate within the loot ’em up genre, it managed to capture our hearts and minds with its cool art style and addictive combat. One of the few major criticisms that stuck with Torchlight was its lack of multiplayer, an omission that is set to be rectified in Torchlight 2. With true co-op gameplay and a more expansive gameplay world, expect this one to drain yet more of your valuable time and energy when it launches next year.
